'Sherlock' Season 4 Premier Date, Rumors, Photos, Spoilers, And Christmas Special: Steven Moffat Destroys Hope For 'Sherlock' 'Doctor Who' Crossover [PHOTO]

"Sherlock" fans have been rabidly awaiting news about season 4, particularly the release date. While we are a ways away from getting that exact release date, here are all the juicy details currently avaialble.

The biggest hudle for "Sherlock" season 4 is the cast's busy schedule. Martin Freeman is juggling his roles in "The Hobbit" and FX channel's "Fargo" TV series. Benedict Cumberbatch is tackling multiple movie projects as well as fighting rumors that he will be appearing in the new "Star Wars" film. Mark Gatiss is running the Iron Bank of Braavos in "Game of Thrones" and only recently finished filming a new "Frankenstein" movie.

Steve Moffat on the other hand is still involved in "Doctor Who" as the main showrunner.

The schedules of the actors aren't helping with the fourth season's release date since syncing up the schedules of the actors is a difficult endeavor.

The BBC announced that a full-length special episode of Sherlock will begin filming in 2015, with three episodes to be filmed later that year

"I can officially tell you that we are moving closer to agreeing some dates to shoot. If that sounds like a party line, it is. That is proper progress because Ben and Martin and Steven are so busy, but actually trying to get everybody to interlock is ... we have made significant progress," Gatiss said.

In other "Sherlock" Steven Moffat has "come clean" about the possibility of a crossover 'Wholock' episode between the two shows. And by possibilitiy he means its never going to happen.

"Look I'm going to come clean on this: I would," he said with regards to a crossover at a recent Q&A.

"Go speak to Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue, okay? They're all in the way. I'm not the killjoy, it's that lot. It's probably not going to happen."

"You know in some ways, I think Mark [Gatiss] has got a point when he says that however good you imagine [the crossover], it would be almost better in your imagination than it would be if the two grand old egotists actually met," he added.

"They'd just both go off in opposite corners and sulk that there was someone cleverer than them

The Christmas special of "Sherlock" next year will reportedly be based on the story of "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle." However, this also has not yet been confirmed by BBC.

The latest spoilers teased that Moriarty will be back next season. In an interview with MTV, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that Moriarty is set to return in the new season. When asked whether Moriarty (Andrew Scott) will appear again next season, the actor answered, "Yeah, I think so. I casually choose to forget in order to rediscover it again a little bit."

Other spoilers also claimed that Mary (Amanda Abbington) will return in season 4 contrary to the reports that her character will be killed off, as she is in the books. Show creator Steve Moffat also revealed that the 221B Baker Street location will be used again.

Though the season has been flagged for a 2016 premiere, an exact date is still questionable since members of the cast are busy with their individual projects.
