Nexus 6 Release Date: Specs Of Google’s New Android Flagship May Incl. 5.2-inch Curved Display, Octa-Core Chip, Android L; Coming Very Soon

Nexus 6 release date: The upcoming new Android flagship of Google, the Nexus 6, has been rumored even before the Nexus 5 was released and possible specs of the soon-to-be unveiled unit is now being circulated. Timelines only suggest that it’s coming this year and maybe launched very soon.

The display of the Nexus 6 could be a 5.2-inch Full HD and curved display. G4Games noted that the future handset may have a quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip or an octa-core MT6752 SoC. The Nexus 5 is running on a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 processor and can be upgraded to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The upcoming Nexus 6 is expected to also have a 20MP or 13MP camera and a 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery.

Other features that have speculated about the handset include a curved LCD display and a lightweight polycarbonate body. It may also feature Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity.

In terms of pricing, many people are expecting the cost of the Nexus 6 to be similar to not be very different from its predecessor. The new device may cost a little more than the Nexus 5, but the exact pricing is still unknown.

There have been earlier rumors that Google tried to kill the Nexus series and that it might make way for a new product line called Android Silver, noted the International Business Times, but an executive from the search giant clarified that the company is planning to release its new device this winter.

According to Dave Burke, head of Android engineering, in an interview with ReadWrite, the company is not scrapping the Nexus series.

“People just get excited by concepts and forget why we do things,” Burke told ReadWrite. “We are still invested in Nexus.”

Though the date for the device’s launch is still unknown, it’s a great possibility that we may see it anytime soon now.
