Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Spoilers: Shonda Rhimes Reveals "It's A Meredith-Centric Story", Will Derek and Meredith Divorce After He Takes A New Job?

Grey's Anatomy season 11 will be premiered on September 25 and the Executive Producer of the series, Shonda Rhimes unveiled a few spoilers.

Rhimes revealed that Grey's Anatomy season 11 will revolve with the story of Meredith Grey and tagged it as a Meredith-centric story.

"Right now, if you were in the writers' room, you could probably tell me that the theme is Meredith. Because all I keep saying is, 'The show is just about Meredith Grey!' It's really a Meredith-centric season. She's lost her person, her half-sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go some place else," Rhimes said.

"She's got all these things going on. Maybe that's the theme, maybe it's independence. But for me right now, it feels like it's Meredith. I'm feeling her more acutely because she's lost her person," she added.

With the rumors that Meredith and Derek won't be in good terms on Grey's Anatomy season 11, Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly that it is not a marriage-ending argument.

"It feels very TV for people's marriages to end over easy things or hard things, I actually would like to watch a couple have a hard time in their marriage, and it not be that means their marriage is over. There's something really great about watching a couple have a mature marriage where stuff goes wrong, things are hard, and people try to push through it and figure it out," Rhimes said.

Furthermore, on Grey's Anatomy season 11, Meredith's half-sister will also be appearing on the show, and Rhimes also confirmed that Geenas Davis who starred in 1991's Thelma and Louise has been tapped to join the cast but only as a guest.
