Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: This WP 8.1 Smartphone Is The Best We've Seen Today, Hitting Verizon And AT&T Soon

There are a number of upcoming Windows phones for 2014, especially after the latest version, Windows Phone 8.1 has been announced and released. However, the highest spec'd WP device is the Nokia Lumia 930, and even in all its glory, it only packs year-old flagship specs. 

That's why it is certainly a breath of fresh air when it has been reported that HTC is working on a WP device, as it partnered with Microsoft together with other brands like Samsung, Sony and other phone manufacturers in Asia. 

However, we didn't realize they were just trying to develop the WP 8.1 and place it in their current flagship, the One M8. 

And today, the Taiwanese manufacturer has officially launched the device, simply dubbed HTC One M8 for Windows. 

According to a report by GSM Arena, the HTC One M8 is initially an exclusive for Verizon, just like other HTC handsets in the past. However, in a succeeding report, it looks like AT&T will also offer it shortly after. 

Just like the One M8 for Android, this Windows phone will boast the same specs and features. In the press images, the Window Tiles UI certainly looks good on the HTC One M8. 

HTC One M8 for Windows will pack the same 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot for storage expansion. 

It is also worth noting that the HTC Windows phone comes with a Snapdragon 801 chipset, while the Nokia flagship only has the 800 version. This means the One M8 for Windows is currently the fastest WP 8.1 powered device right now. 

Interestingly, the HTC smartphone also has the Duo Camera mechanism of the Android version, and it still comes with 4MP UltraPixels. In front is a 5MP shooter to handle selfies and video calls. 

The device is currently available in Verizon for only $100 on contract, though you can get it for $30 a month through the Edge program.
