'Tales From The Borderlands' Release Date, Spoilers, And Trailers: Telltale Says You Can Import Loot From Other 'Borderland's Titles' Will Come After 'Wolf Among Us' Finishes Current Season [VIDEO]

"Tales From The Borderlands" release date is coming soon, after " Walking Dead Season 2" and "The Wolf Among Us" have finished their current seasons.

Telltale community @puzzlebox has described the project genesis on her twitter as follows: "Telltalegames and Gearbox Software got drunk at last year's VGAs and now they're having a Borderlands baby". It is going to be a Telltale style decions based point and click game, set in the normally FPS "Borderlands" world. Set after the events of "Borderlands 2"

The story will be played from the perspective of two main characters who work for Hyperion: Rhys, played by Sam Witwer who played Crashdown from Battlestar Galactic, and Fiona.

Rhys has one blue eye that works as a digital scanner that gives information and hacks computers. This is how Rhys, who works at Hyperion, is able to get the drop on his new boss, Hugo Vasquez, played by Patrick Warburton aka Joe from "Family Guy" or Brock from the "Venture Brothers", the Senior VP of some securities propaganda at the company.

Combat is similar to Telltale's other titles "The Walking Dead" or "The Wolf Among Us." It's predominantly QTE-based, with button prompts and joystick moves flashing on screen indicating when you should perform them.

During the panel "Two Sides to Every Story - Tales from the Borderlands Unveiled at SXSW" developers from both Telltale Games and Gearbox discussed the story of the episodic adventure.

Polygon reports that the game will feature two playable protagonists who narrate the story, however their stories are rife with discrepancies.

Telltale Games Kevin Bruner explains that "you never really play what actually happened, you're playing this Big Fish version of what happened."

Set in the world of Pandora and following the events of Borderlands 2, the humour of Gearbox's series will remain, and as Bruner says "...you have to have crazy, over-the-top action scenes, or it's not a Borderlands game."

Gearbox writer Anthony Burch says Tales from the Borderlands is about the people of Pandora, and not about characters from the series, though they will make an appearance. He says the story will be "more about schmos trying to get by...that makes the world feel much more real."

Telltale Games' also has said that "Tales From The Borderlands" allows players to use the loot they grab in any other "Borderlands" game according to a post on the PlayStation Blog by producer Adam Sarasohn.

According to Sarasohn, the loot players collect in the epsodic downloadable series will be "available to use in other areas of the Borderlands franchise."

Each episode of Tales from the Borderlands will cost $4.99 each, and there will be a season pass available to purchase all episodes at once.

"Pandora has a wealth of stories to offer, and Gearbox wants them told," Sarasohn wrote. "Telltale is going to collaborate with you through the choices that you make to get some of those stories out there, and to create a brand new Borderlands experience. If you play Borderlands simply for the sake of shooting stuff, then you might not be a fan of Tales, but if you enjoy being on Pandora, hanging out with and finding out more about all of the amazing characters, and/or you've enjoyed what we did in The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, then this might be a game series for you."

Comedian Chris Hardwick has also joined the main cast as Rhys' best friend Vaughn. The cast will also include the talents of other notable actors such as Nolan North, Patrick Warburton, and multiple members of the cast of the"Borderlands" series including Dameon Clarke (Handsome Jack).

Telltale has said the game's release date is coming late summer, after their other titles have finished their current seasons. However the exact release date has not been officially announced.
