Samsung Galaxy K Zoom release date, review: The Samsung Galaxy S5 variant, Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, is now available for $500 unlocked and has been described as the best Android-powered camera phone. It claims to be the only smartphone with 10x optical zoom. It’s camera has a 20.7MP w/ BSI CMOS sensor.

The K Zoom was announced in April and was recently made available online. Samsung described it as an “everyday smartphone” with a powerful camera.

A quick look at GSM Arena’s spec sheet for the device show that the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom has a primary camera with 20.7MP with 5248 x 3936 pixel resolution. It has a auto/manual focus, 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and Xenon and LED flash. It’s secondary camera has 2 MP.

Trusted Reviews praised the device’s optical zoom which is great for photo composition and it customizable software. Similar to the Galaxy S4 Zoom, the Galaxy K Zoom is a smartphone with a “proper” camera, complete with the lens.

Phone Arena says that the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is a “must have for any camera-centric handset.”

The K Zoom has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280.

Under the hood, the handset has two processors, a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 to manage lighter functions, and a 1.7 GHz dual-core Cortex A15 CPU which works when extra processing power is needed. The processor are powered with 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom runs on Android 4.4.2, according to a spec sheet by Phone Arena.

Internal storage for the unit is 8GB but due to MicroSD support can be expanded up to 64GB. It weighs 200 grams and has a dimension of 137.5 x 70.8 x 20.2mm.

The handset does not have a fingerprint sensor, a feature found on the S5, but has Ultra Power Saving Mode to help prolong battery life.
