A Day For Bill Murray: Toronto International Film Festival Honors The 'Groundhog Day' And 'Ghostbusters' Actor In September

Bill Murray fans rejoice as now an entire day will be dedicated to the award winning "Groundhog Day" actor. At this years Toronto International Film Festival, September 5th will be dedicated to Murray, where three of his biggest films - "Groundhog Day," "Stripes," and "Ghostbusters" - will screen before the premiere of his newest film.

For fans of the "Ghostbusters" (and plenty of other films) veteran, September 5th will be a much more eventful day this year. The Toronto International Film Festival, which opens on September 4th, will be declare it Bill Murray Day. As Rolling Stone states, "Murray has also agreed to participate in an audience Q&A following 'St. Vincent' to discuss both the film and his career."

In addition to the Q&A, festival organizers also announced that fans who attend all three free screenings will be entered into a special contest.

"St. Vincent", Bill Murray's latest, finds the Academy Award winning actor up to his usual shenanigans, this time in Afghanistan. In the film, as Variety explains, Murray will appear "as a has-been rock manager who takes his sole client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, only to find himself penniless and without his passport. Abandoned in the country, he finds a young girl with a mean set of pipes and makes her a star through Afghanistan's version of "Idol."

The film will also include stars like Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Danny McBride and Scott Caan.

Bill Murray Day is looking to be a major part of an already packed Toronto International Film Festival that will take place from September 4th through September 14th. Often thought of as a preview for most of the Oscar contending films, it's a festival that is not to be missed by either filmmakers or industry executives looking to buy. And while I'm sure the North American premiere of James Franco's adaptation of "The Sound and the Fury" will be interesting, Bill Murray Day will definitely make for some festival cheer.
