Scott Weiland Arrested For Possession And Burglary? Former Stone Temple Pilots Frontman's Impersonator Fools Cops

A report by TMZ claimed that Scott Weiland was arrested for illegal drug possession and burglary. But it was apparently a case of claimed identity as Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they locked up a man only pretending to be the former Stone Temple Pilots singer.

News about Scott Weiland being arrested circulated fast and the former Velvet Revolver member was not too happy when he heard of it. Shortly after TMZ broke the story, Weiland took to his official Facebook account to call out the falsehood of the report by posting a video of his statement with the caption: "Scott Weiland LOCKED UP... in the studio TMZ!"

"I just got done reading something very interesting: a nice piece of fiction saying I was in jail and have been for months. I've actually been touring, writing and recording my new album in the studio we're in right now. A Los Angeles studio," Weiland said on the video. "All I have to say to our fans is, whether you found it funny, or interesting or whether you were sad, don't worry. Don't fret."

According to Entertainment Online, a man, who is completely a different person, claimed to be Scott Weiland got arrested. When asked for his identification, the man reportedly said "Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland" and the information he gave was recorded to the system.

The man who posed as Weiland has been identified as Jason Michael Hurley, 44, who will now face charges not only for the crimes he previously admitted to as Weiland but aslo for giving false information to a police officer.

The story ran by TMZ on August 21 claimed that Weiland had been spending four weeks in jail for stealing razors from a drugstore in Beverly Hills and was found to be in possession of meth when questioned by the police.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Weiland is considering pressing charges against TMZ.
