J.K. Rowling’s New Harry Potter Character, `The Singing Sorceress’ Drops Single and Unveils Website; Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees Concert Tickets Too Rich for Mrs. Weasley

JK Rowling introduced a new character into the Harry Potter world, known as "the Singing Sorceress." Celestina Warbeck was a Shirley Bassey-influenced singer from the "Harry Potter" books. The magical musician now has her own story on the Pottermore website.

Celestina Warbeck, the singing sorceress, wasn't in any of the seven Harry Potter books. J.K. Rowling released a new story on pottermore.com, the "Harry Potter" website and made it available to "The Today Show."

"Celestina's extraordinary voice was apparent from an early age," Rowling wrote. "Disappointed to learn that there was no such thing as a wizarding stage school, Mrs. Warbeck reluctantly consented to her daughter's enrollment at Hogwarts, but subsequently bombarded the school with letters urging the creation of a choir, theatre club and dancing class to showcase her daughter's talents."

Warbeck is Molly Weasley, Ron Weasley's mom's favorite jazz singer. Though Molly Weasley couldn't watch the singing sorceress perform backed by a band of banshees because tickets cost too much on the black market.

In article for The Today Show, Rowling wrote "Celestina Warbeck is one of my favorite 'off-stage' characters in the Harry Potter series, and has been part of the Potter world ever since its inception, making an early appearance in the short-lived 'Daily Prophet' series I produced for members of the equally short-lived fan club run by my British publisher, Bloomsbury."

"I stole her first name from a friend with whom I worked, years ago, at Amnesty International's Headquarters in London; 'Celestina' was simply begging to be scooped up and attached to a glamorous witch," Rowling explained.

In June, J.K. Rowling put out a new story, in the form of a gossip column, that imagined Harry Potter as a 34-year-old dad who was on a Quidditch World Cup outing.  Two weeks ago, Rowling had Dumbledore write a letter to Cassidy Stay, who lost her family in a tragic shooting.

J.K. Rowling didn't just fill in the details of Wizarding World singer Celestina Warbeck's life, but dropped a new single.

Rowling released a biography about the popular witch singer on August 18,  Celestina's birthday.

Celestina Warbeck is the house act at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley expansion.

According to Pottermore.com "Internationally-acclaimed singing sensation Celestina Warbeck (sometimes known as 'the Singing Sorceress') hails from Wales. Her father, a minor functionary in the Muggle Liaison Office, met her Muggle mother (a failed actress) when the latter was attacked by a Lethifold disguised as a stage curtain..."

Celestina is best known for her songs "You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me," "A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love." Her biggest album in the 20th century was "You Stole My Cauldron but You Can't Have My Heart." You can listen to "You Stole My Cauldron but You Can't Have My Heart" on Pottermore.com.

Rowling wrote the title but not the lyrics to the song.
