Google Nexus 6 Motorola Release Date: 'Shamu' Smartphone Arriving Soon, Allegedly Packs Android L, 5.5" Display, Snapdragon 801

For Android fans, the Google Nexus 6 Motorola release date could be the most awaited time of the year.

According to a recent report, the new Nexus device will be set for launch by the fourth quarter of this year. It has also been reported that Motorola has taken the helm in developing the smartphone.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Google will discontinue the Nexus lineup, especially after it announced Android Silver, a new program that would allow manufacturers to make a standard look for Android, as well as similar user experience to keep its usability common among Android users.

However, an interview with a Google executive debunked the idea and mentions that developing new versions of Android requires a hardware to run the system. They will not be able to develop past and future Android versions if they can't run it first in hardware that is intended for it.

So what does the Motorola Nexus 6 have to offer?

According to recent reports, the upcoming Motorola phone will be named Shamu and should get a 5.5-inch display, the biggest among the Nexus lineup. Other alleged specs include Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 801 chipset.

In the reports, the new Nexus 6 by Motorola will pack the latest Android version, Android L, which has already been previewed more than a month ago.

We're pretty concerned about the upcoming Nexus 6's camera. Last year, in spite having the best available chipset and screen resolution, the LG Nexus 5 only had an 8MP primary camera, and the initial issues for Android Kit Kat made its performance even worse.

Now that the development has been placed on Motorola's shoulders, there could be a significant change. We loved the previous midrange and high-end Motorola phones, and we'll probably get a Nexys 6 with similar design.

So are you excited for the Nexus 6?
