Upcoming Blackberry Phones 2014: The Passport Is A Square Phone With Powerful Specs, Include 3GB RAM, 13MP Shooter, 3,450mAh Battery

One of the upcoming Blackberry phones for 2014 is the Passport, and while it does not have the most gorgeous of designs, it has gained attention due to its unique design and it is the result of Blackberry's reemergence in the market.

However, a new report confirms the Blackberry Passport's specs and now we know that this isn't a midranger or entry-level handset at all.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Blackberry Passport packs a 4.5-inch LCD display with 1440 x 1440 resolution. That's good enough to go up against smartphones with 1080p resolution.

In addition, the BB 10-powered smartphone gets a Snapdragon 800 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB of RAM. The slightly outdated specs is hardly surprising as the Canada-based manufacturer may not have enough resources yet to go for the latest.

Still, those specs are pretty respectable, especially the 3GB of RAM which means that the device can handle extensive multi-tasking and other features. Also on board is a 32GB of built-in storage which is expandable through the provided microSD card slot.

If you were already impressed with those specs, then you also have to know that the Blackberry Passport will also get a 12MP primary camera at the back and a 2.1MP front shooter to handle those selfie shots.

The phone comes with the usual connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, GLONASS and LTE.

Of course, we won't forget about the device's QWERTY keypad which takes up almost half of the phone's front. The keys look a bit cramped up, but they may still function like the Blackberry handsets of old. Completing the list is a huge 3,450mAh battery to keep things powered up throughout the day.

It is good to see Blackberry bouncing back from a nightmare year last year. We'll see how the Passport holds its own against Android and iOS competition.
