Sunderland will face off against rival Manchester United on Sunday, placing two of the English Premier League's closely followed teams against each other.

Sunderland, coming out of a 2-2 tie with West Bromwich Albion, is expected to be the favorite in the match.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet said Fabio Borini could still join Sunderland, the Daily Mail reports.

"We're still going and we're still trying," Poyet said, according to the site.

"Nothing has changed, for good or for bad."

Manchester United, coming out of a 2-1 loss to Swansea City, is expected to be the underdog in the match.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said he wants his team's expectations to be lowered, Sky Sports reports.

"I think the fans of Manchester are intelligent. I've already said that it shall be difficult in the first three months, for the players and also for the fans. I've said it to Ed Woodward and the Glazers that this is what it is," van Gaal said, according to the site.

"They have hired me for my philosophy, not because I'm a nice guy. I am a nice guy but that's not why I was brought here."
