Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini review, update: Android 4.4 KitKat now comes to the compact version mirroring the S4’s specs, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The Android 4.4 KitKat OTA update is now being rolled out to AT&T Galaxy S4 users, Android Origin reports.

The American wireless carrier is pushing out the updates in segments, thus it’s not immediately available to all users. It’ll probably ping the user, however, once it’s available for your device.

Android Origin notes that AT&T Galaxy S4 users can check for manul updates by going to Settings >> More >> About Devices >> Software Update >> Check for update. Users can also get the update via Samsung Galaxy Kies.

Some of the enhancements included in the Android 4.4 KitKat update include a transparent status bar, white status bar icons, immersive mode, color emoji support, full screen album art, a new location menu, and also TouchWiz updates.

The Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest variant of Google’s mobile OS but is not its latest iteration for the newly named platform. It’s unknown if Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will also be getting the Android 4.4.2 and earlier versions.

Specs of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.7GHz Snapdragon dual-core Krait processor, 8MP camera, and an initial 5 or 8GB storage expandable to 64GB.

Dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini are 4.91 x 2.41 x 0.35 inches and a weight of 107 grams. It bears the the spitting image of the Galaxy S4, but with a smaller and lighter body. It has the same glossy, plastic body, thin bezel and metal band separating the screen from the battery cover that its older brother has. What it boasts about is its portability. The S4 Mini fits snuggly in one hand in spite of its slippery back.
