Samsung Galaxy S4 Active VS. Sony Xperia Z1: The Android market is filled with top of the line handsets and the outdoorsy Samsung Galaxy S4 Active if the flagship marketed for the active consumer. The Sony Xperia Z1, on the other hand, is the premier flagship handset by the Japanese tech giant before it was succeeded by the Xperia Z2.

If you’re planning to consider either, see our comparison review below on these premium Android smartphones.

DISPLAY & DESIGN

Both the Galaxy S4 Active and the Xperia Z1 sport a 5-inch water and dust resistant TFT display that comes with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and a pixel display of 441 ppi. However, the Xperia has an edge over the other because its screen is triluminos. This allows you to view you easily screen indoors or outdoors.

On the other hand, the Xperia Z1 weighs heavier at 170 grams with a dimension of 144x74x8.5mm, compared to the Galaxy S4 Active’s weight of 153 grams and dimension of 139.7×71.3×9.1mm.

PERFORMANCE

Powered by Quad-Core 1.9GHz Krait 300 processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, and the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS (upgradable to the KitKat version), the Galaxy S4 Active sports a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB memory (expandable up to 64 GB). This specs are considerably okay for its range. However, it is clearly weaker than the Xperia Z’s hardware and software.

The Sony model is powered by its quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It has the same RAM and internal storage.

CAMERA

In terms of camera, the Sony Xperia Z1 has the better, and not to mention monstrous camera with 20.7 Megapixels, 5248 Ñ… 3936-pixel resolution, and a video capability of 1080p at 30 fps. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, on the other hand, has an 8 MP camera with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels.

Both sport the same front camera of 2 MP.

With only a slight difference in terms of price, the two are at an equal footing, with the Sony model a bit more pricy. However, if you’re into camera and a stronger processor, the Xperia is for you.
