Team USA Basketball: Damian Lillard Should Be In The Team! Blazers Fans Sound Off On ‘The Wrong Choice!’ Portland’s Star Guard Now The Cover Boy For ‘NBA Live 2015!’

Team USA recently announced their final roster of 12 and Damian Lillard was not included. Lillard was probably the hardest worker among those in the tryouts, but the team could not afford to have four point guards.

So the debate opens on whether the point guards that were chosen are actually better than Damian Lillard.

Each of the three point guards seems to have a non-basketball advantage over Damian Lillard. Kyrie Irving is a Coach K protégé and is very familiar to his system. Derrick Rose is an inspiring comeback story and Stephen Curry is simply the best shooter in the NBA.

Damian Lillard may have proven himself to be a great clutch player (especially this year) but they don't really envision too many tight games for the FIBA World Cup.

Still, most of the Blazers fans were not convinced.
Dave,

Just heard about Damian Lillard "not being selected for the final 12 man USA roster"... When is the nation going to start a revolt? No way is D-Rose or Kyrie a better "fit" for team USA. And I get the need for more big men but Mason [ed. Mason's middle name redacted here cuz I'm not sure it's the one his mama gave him] Plumlee!? Give me a break!

Sincerely,
Spain's new #1 fan"

Granted, there was really too much talent at the point guard spot. It’s a tough call to say Lillard was better than the three names mentioned. But the question was whether the team needed all five bigs.

There was really nothing more but prestige on the line for playing in Team USA, and Lillard will still have some of that. EA Sports recently named him as the cover boy of NBA Live 2015, pitting him against no less than NBA MVP Kevin Durant who will grace the cover of NBA 2K15.

The All-Star guard confirmed it himself through Instagram:
