Slipknot Announces New Album's Release Date; Drops Single Called 'The Devil And I''

Slipknot's new album has finally been given a release date (October 21) and the band teases fans by releasing a single called "The Negative One."

Metal band Slipknot's new album, their fifth, is called "5: The Grey Chapter" and will reportedly be released by Roadrunner Records.

The group took to their official Facebook account to announce their new album, following the success of the release of their newest single earlier this month.

Slipknot's new album is the band's latest music endeavor after six years of hiatus. Apart from the new album, the metal band will also go on tour.

"We've been waiting a long time for this," Corey Taylor, the band's vocalist said. "Not only do we get to tour with friends who we respect, we've also chosen a band that represents the fury of the future. Slipknot is coming to your town. And hell's coming with us."

The new album is also the band's first musical effort after the demise of their bassist Paul Gray in 2010, and also references his death by overdose of morphine and fentanyl.

In an interview with The Pulse of Radio, Taylor talked about their bandmate's death saying that the incident led the remaining members of the group to learn about each other anew.

"We were all kind of grieving in our own way and dealing with things in our own way, and knowing that we had to be healthy to go in, we had to be creative to go in, and knowing that we were gonna have to fill this huge void, we just kind of took it upon ourselves to make up for that emptiness by being a little bit of Paul. Like we were all a little bit of Paul in our own way," he said.

There have been no announcements as to who will handle the bass, as well as who the drummer is on the record after Joey Jordison left the group last December.
