Amazon Fire Phone A Flop? Study Claims Fire OS-Powered Smartphone Only Sold 26,000 Units During Past Month

Announced a couple of months ago, the Amazon Fire Phone was supposed to reinvent the way smartphones is seen today. It boasts a number of unique features which are never before seen in the mobile industry for years and should be a huge selling point to tech geeks.

Unfortunately, after the actual launch of the smartphone, it appears that the retailer giant's actual objective is to promote its Amazon Prime premium account which comes free with the Fire Phone. That was evident in the first ever commercial ad released for the smartphone.

Now, it looks like the market has also spoken what it thinks about the Fire Phone.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Chitika Insights revealed in a study that the public interest for the smartphone has not even reached half of the post-launch adoption of the LG G3 in North America.

Together with the data by comScore, wherein approximately 173-175 million smartphones are currently in the US, only 26,000 Fire Phone units may have been purchased following its release a couple of months ago.

As far as specs are concerned, the Amazon Fire Phone is a respectable flagship with its Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB RAM and 13MP primary camera at the back which can identify millions of products through Amazon Firefly.

There are also multiple front sensors which determine how you look at the screen from a particular angle, and as a result it adjusts accordingly in such a way that you would feel that there is an entirely different world within the screen.

In spite all of these features, the Fire Phone failed to get the interest of its target market due to high pricing $650, and only available with AT&T.

How about you, do you agree that the Fire Phone is simply a wasted effort from Amazon?
