Auro H20 Waterproof E-Reader Confirmed To Be Unveiled On October! What Are The Specs And Features Of This Reader?

The Kobo finally introduced on Wednesday its first waterproof e-reader.

The new waterproof e-reader of Kobo is called the Aura H2O, it can spend up to 30 minutes in one meter (about 3.3 feet) of water.

According to the article of The Next Web, "this year's premium e-reader has the same resolution found in last year's model (265 ppi), but it has an updated 6.8-inch Carta E Ink display."

Thanks to high quality hardware, the Kobo company now is making its way in the international market.

"We thought it (Kobo Aura HD) was a niche device and would account for maybe 5 percent of total sales. It was more like 25 percent," Kobo President Michael Tamblyn told The Next Web.

The new waterproof e-reader was made due to the demand of other consumers that they want to read while on the beach or in a vacation.

"As we dug deeper, we found that more than 60 percent of customers surveyed said they would love to be able to read near water without worry," Tamblyn said in the article in the Guardian.

"We designed the Kobo Aura H2O, our latest premium e-reader, so that e-books could be just as common at the beach or in the bath as they are on the bus or in bed," he added.

Moreover, Tamblyn admitted that the Aura H2O is not a "mass adoption device" but given the fact that other consumers enjoy the pleasure of reading while in the beach or in a vacation, might be this device will be a yes in the market.

The waterproof e-reader Aura H20 will be able to pre-order at Kobo.com starting on Thursday with at a price of $179.
