Nexus 9 Release Date: Google And HTC's Newest Android Slate Will Be A Gaming Powerhouse With NVIDIA's Tegra K1 On Board

Earlier this year, a lot of people thought that the Nexus lineup is finished with the announcement of Android Silver, which aims to standardize the Android experience even across smartphones from different manufacturers.

However, a Google exec said that developing the newest version of Android always require hardware where they can run it and check for possible problems before release.

And so that means that both the Nexus 6, which is reportedly being worked on by Motorola, and the Nexus 9, which is developed by HTC, will still push through.

As for the tablet, the Nexus 9 should have been the Nexus 8, but due to its larger screen of 8.9-inches, it would be better to call it the Nexus 9.

According to a new report, the Android L-powered slate is poised to become the ultimate gaming tablet when it becomes available in the market.

GSM Arena reports that a hardware-assessing app called CPU-Z has confirmed that the upcoming Nexus tablet will pack NVIDIA's Tegra K1 chipset, the one which runs on a 192-core Kepler and supports 64-bit applications.

Furthermore, the chip's dual-core CPU is clocked at a much higher 2.5GHz compared to the 2.2GHz which several tests revealed previously.

In the report, NVIDIA also claims that its chip will be 1.5 times more efficient than other chipsets, which means we should see prolonged battery hours for the upcoming Nexus 9.

If you are already excited for the new Google hero tablet, some rumored specs include a 2048 x 1440 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, 8.9 inch screen, and an 8 megapixel primary camera.

For the past several months, it is HTC which is believed to be working on the Nexus tablet. One thing that is interesting to point out is that HTC hasn't developed a tablet since 2011, when the latest Android version was Gingerbread.

But considering HTC's previous design decisions for the One M8 and its other handsets, we expect the Nexus 9 to be one gorgeous-looking device.
