Derrick Rose News: D-Rose's Return To MVP Form Will Take A While, Can Bulls Win While Waiting?

A lot of people are very excited with the latest Derrick Rose news, which is about the 25-year-old point guard getting picked not only as a member of Team USA, but a starter for the squad who will face the best international basketball talent.

Unfortunately for D-Rose, in spite all the feel good news we have been hearing for the last couple of weeks, it may actually take him longer to return to his pre-injury form come the start of the NBA season.

According to a report by Bleacher Report and ESPN a week ago, Team USA decided to bench Rose during its tune-up game against the Dominican Republic due to 'soreness' in the guard's knees. While reports claim that such physical discomfort on Rose's part is just normal, it certanly raises questions as to whether his return will be evident right away.

In a gruelling 82-game season, Rose will certainly need to pace himself every game just so he is able to provide the offensive attack needed of him by the Bulls. But can Chicago rally at the beginning of the season and build some momentum while Rose is still trying out to release his 101 percent every game?

The 2011 version of the Bulls may have failed, but this time around they can surely manage.

This off-season Chicago made some really nice moves including making some last-minute arrangements to get Doug McDermott from the rookie draft, signing former Eurobasket MVP Nikola Mirotic, getting premier big man Pau Gasol from free agency and getting a ton of role players and a supporting cast that will sure work triple time to give coach Thibs the defense he wants.

And in a season where a lot is expected out of Windy City, the Bulls will surely deliver. Last season where Chicago did not have any official offensive threat, the team still finished with a respectable 48 wins and 34 losses, good for 4th seed.

Now, with all the offensive guns it has, and a returning Derrick Rose joining the fold, the Bulls is now a contender for the Eastern Conference Finals title.
