New York Knicks Roster: Are The Knicks Ready To Use Best Championship Weapon They Have In Years?

The New York Knicks roster is overall almost the same now than when the off-season began, and that's not exactly a bad thing.

The team certainly has talent, but it is an aging one.

Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire are already in their 30s, while the third offensive option is J.R. Smith who will be turning 29 before the season begins.

Other notable players aside from these three are also on the veteran side of the fence, including Andrea Barghani, Jose Calderon and Kenyon Martin.

However, in spite not moving so much in terms of roster composition, the Knicks will have a new look this coming season. That's because they'll be boasting a weapon that has won multiple NBA titles in the last two decades - the triangle.

The triangle offense has been around for a while now, but it has only become popular when Phil Jackson used it to fuel the Chicago Bulls to six championships in seven years, and the Los Angeles Lakers to five titles during the previous decade.

With Stoudamire, the Knicks already has a big man who can become the center piece of the triangle, with Anthony playing on the wing and an able guard to knock down spot up jumpers such as Calderon or even Smith.

The problem lies with Stoudamire's court vision and ability to dish assists to open team mates. In this regard, Iman Shumpert can become an invaluable asset to New York. As an agile forward, Shumpert can post up quick and begin the offense. Unfortunately, he will need to further hone his offensive skills in order to get as much attention down low as possible.

Another option would be Barghani, though he may still need to work on his back-to-the-basket movements.

With the NBA season a couple of months from now, the Knicks should find a way to mesh together and implement the best weapon they had in years, brought by Jackson and newly-installed coach Derek Fisher.
