Macbook Air Release Date Rumors: Apple Scrambles To Get Macbook Air Ready For Holidays As Intel Has Supply Issues With Broadwell Chip That Will Allow Apple To Make The Thinnest Macbook Air Ever[PHOTO}

No one really knows exactly when to expect the Macbook Air Release Date.

If latest rumors are to be believed, Apple will not be launching the 12-inch version of the MacBook Air until next year.

There have been rumors that the MacBook Air 2014 will be coming with Intel's 14 nanometer Broadwell chip, but it seems that the supply may just be limited, as there has been a supply issue. Apple will launch a thinner MacBook near the end of this year or sometime next year, according to a new report from Digitimes. Citing supply chain sources in Taiwan, the report notes that component production has already begun in small volumes. Apple will also reportedly cease production of the 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro by the end of 2014.

A report last month claimed that Intel's continued delays of its Broadwell chip may cause Apple to push back the release of its 12-inch MacBook until late this 2014 or early 2015. Another report from June stated that Apple would begin production of a 12-inch MacBook Air in the third quarter of this year, with Quanta Computer in charge of assembly.

Some components of the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air are currently being produced "in small volumes," DigiTimes says, citing "Taiwan-based supply chain makers."

Yhe 12-inch MacBook Air may still make it before the 2014 holiday season. Intel has since said that the "first systems based on the Intel Core M processor will be on shelves for the holiday selling season."

Incorporating the new 14-nm Intel Broadwell chips will allow Apple to feature a fanless design in the 12-inch MacBook Air because that chip doesn't require a cooling fan. That would mean this version of the Macbook Air would be the thinnest ever.

Some of the key features of the upcoming MacBook Air are: 12-inch monitor with 2K screen resolution,1.35kg, 128GB or 256GB SSD, 1.4GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 2x USB 3.0, a Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt 2.0, a Memory card reader and a 720p FaceTime camera.
