Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: Meet HTC's Semi-Flagship And Selfie-Ready Desire 820, Rumored Specs Include 64-Bit CPU, 13MP Primary Camera, 8MP Front Cam

It seems a lot of new smartphones nowadays try to ride the selfie trend. However, if you are an Android fan, you would surely love what one of the upcoming HTC phones for 2014 has in store for you.

According to a report by GSM Arena, rumor has it that the Taiwanese manufacturer is preparing an upcoming midrange of sorts handset and should be unveiled some time next week, probably at the start of the IFA event in Berlin.

Dubbed as the Desire 820, the Android-powered smartphone has been detailed in a tweet by @upleaks though you may still want to take this with more than a pinch of salt.

In the tweet, the upcoming HTC smartphone will pack the same 64-bit chip seen in the Desire 510, which was already announced a week ago. While the phone was previously mentioned as HTC's first octa-core 64-bit phone, it will only pack four cores, but getting a Qualcomm chipset means it will still be powerful.

Some of the alleged specs mentioned in the tweet include a 5.5-inch display with only HD (1280 x 720) resolution which may not seem enough for some consumers, but would still satisfy majority of the market, a 13MP 'regular' camera at the back, and a whopping 8MP snapper in front.

If the details in the camera department are true, then this would be HTC's first device that gets 8 megapixels of front camera.

Rounding up the specs include a 1.5GB of RAM which should be enough memory for such a handset, an 8GB built-in memory with microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a 2,600mAh battery.

We're not used to seeing HTC in the IFA event because the manufacturer did not unveil anything last year, but it's good that they're back with a vengeance. If these specs are spot on, and the price is right, the Deisre 820 could be one of the more interesting Android phablets this quarter.
