Kid Cudi Collapses During Chicago Performance; 'Pursuit Of Happiness' Rapper Apologizes, Blames Incident On Poor Eating Habits

Kid Cudi collapsed during a performance in Chicago's North Coast Music Festival on August 30, and the rapper blamed poor eating habits for the incident.

A video of Cudi was recorded by an audience member and shows how the incident occurred.

In his performance of his 2009 hit song "Pursuit of Happiness," Kid Cudi collapsed after reportedly jumping down from the stage to approach fans and sign autographs. Some security personnel immediately went to Cudi and were able to prevent the rapper from hitting the ground. Cudi was then rushed off by security personnel and was given medical attention.

To reassure fans that he was alright after the incident, Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, took to his Twitter account to address what happened and said, in several posts: "I'm okay. To everyone who ... came out tonight, wow. All the love, just way too overwhelming."

"Blessed to have fans who actually give a ... about me," the rapper added.

After Kid Cudi collapsed, he went on to thank the people who attended to him. "Mad love to the security who were there and helped me out tonight. Really awesome dudes! Thanks for nursing me back to health ha."

And to shed light on the reason for his fainting, Cudi blamed poor nutrition and said: "I'll do a better and make sure to eat properly on show days :) scouts honor!"

"I love you Chicago. Don't you forget that... Ever. If I scared anyone tonight I am so so sorry from the bottom of my heart," Cudi continued on his Twitter, addressing confusion from fans who were present during his performance at the festival.

Cudi's next performance is slated on September 27 for Outkast's ATLast Festival in Atlanta. He had been touring his latest album "Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon" this year.
