Premier League Transfer News: Jay Rodriguez Deadline Day Rumors

Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez is rumored to be swapped with Andros Townsend to the Tottenham Hotspurs, The Independent reports.

The £14million deal follows months of inactivity after the 25-year old star tore ligaments in April during a match.

Jay Rodriguez has allegedly been followed by the Tottenham Hotspurs for a considerable period of time.

"Southampton have so far refused any offers for the player having lost so many of their team over the summer," The Independent writes in a review of the transfer.

"However, the versatile attacker, who won his first England cap against Chile in November, has less than two years left on his existing deal and is unlikely to sign another. Spurs feel that there could be greater competition to sign him the closer he gets to the end of his Southampton contract and are prepared to take him now, despite the injury."
