MTV Reality Star Diem Brown Opens Up About Cancer And Pregnancy Dreams; 'The Challenge' Star 'Felt Gutted' After Undergoing Hysterectomy But Glad To Be Alive

The heartbreaking story of MTV reality star Diem Brown's cancer battle continues as she speaks about undergoing a hysterectomy and how it affects her dreams of getting pregnant and becoming a mother.

The MTV reality star Diem Brown's cancer battle started anew when she was recently diagnosed with colon cancer - her third time fighting a deadly disease. She fought and won over ovarian cancer two times.

Brown, who claimed fame by being part of "Real World/Road Rules Challenge," revealed the heartbreaking details of having undergone the emergency hysterectomy and said in an interview with People magazine: "When I came to, they told me that they couldn't save my uterus. That was a blow. Might sound silly to most, but it's what made me still feel like a woman and gave me hope for a future. I felt empty ... gutted."

Before having the rest of her ovary removed in 2012, Brown reportedly underwent a procedure to have her eggs frozen.

"I know the risks," she said in an interview. "But for my own sanity, I just want to have something 'normal' before going through this cancer journey once again. For me something normal is having my eggs in a freezer somewhere or knowing in my heart I have exhausted every fertility option possible."

Earlier this month, Brown collapsed on set while filming and was immediately rushed to the hospital. There they found tumors blocking the MTV star's colon and Brown immediately undergone surgery to have them removed and was given a colostomy bag.

Brown underwent another surgery when the first one caused an infection in her abdomen.

"I might not have the ability to ever carry a child and I have this damn bag for the time being - but I'm alive," Brown said.

MTV reality star Diem Brown's cancer battle appears to be far from over but the reality star is still in high spirits. While still in the hospital, Brown's sister commented that "she's on a lot of medication but every once in a while you'll see her spirit, the light back in her eyes."
