Motorola Droid Maxx Review, Specs, News: Android Handset Exclusively From Verizon Will Have A Successor This Month? More Colorful Smartphones Expected?

Motorola Droid Maxx review, specs, news: The Motorola Droid Maxx sports an 5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and holds a pixel density of 294. It also has a 10MP camera and runs on a dual-core processor that clocks in at 1.7Ghz on 2GB of RAM.

Launch in July 2013 as a handset that can only be purchased through Verizon, SlashGear reports that there could be a new wave of DROID devices coming soon, as the Big Red carrier has confirmed that they’ll be “reactivating” their DROID landing page soon. Does it mean that the Droid Maxx will have a successor?

If the 5-inch smartphone will have a replacement, either in a form of upgrade or completey new model, the gadget news site noted that the future DROID handses may closely resemble the look of the Moto X+1. It could only mean that we may have more colorful Motorola Droid handsets our way.

Motorola is expected to hold an event on Thursday that may include details for the anticipated handsets.

Droid Maxx has received the Android 4.4 KitKat update in June and can now be availed for $99.99 with a new two-year contract.

The Motorola Droid Maxx stands out from the rest of the Motorola Droid line-up because of its solid built and incredibly long-lasting battery. In fact, it is even considered as one of the best smartphones offered by Verizon. Some reviewers have also noted this.

CNET writes in its earlier review of the handset that "If you can get past its steep price, the massive-screened Motorola Droid Maxx is currently Verizon's best Android smartphone."

The Droid Maxx has a 3500 mAh battery, considered one of the largest battery packs for any smartphones. Its manufacturer claims that the device can live up to 48 hours on “mixed usage.”
