Windows 9 Release Date: Microsoft’s OS Expected To Be Available April 2015; Announcement Can Happen As Soon As Sept. 30?

Windows 9 release date: The unveiling of Microsoft’s OS, designed to replace the Windows 8 which didn’t receive much success, could be as soon as the end of this month. The OS though is expected to be available by April next year.

According to The Verge, Microsoft may unveil the OS on September 30 showing a preview of the new operating system.

"This date may change, but the Threshold version of Windows is currently in development and Microsoft plans to release a preview version of what will likely be named Windows 9 to developers on September 30th or shortly afterwards," writes the tech site.

Though we may see how the Windows 9 look like, PC Advisor writes that it’s expecting the OS to be available in PCs, laptops, tablets and phones by April 2015.

PC Advisor reports, citing Myce.com’s leaked document as source, show that the preview release of the OS will be between 2Q-3Q of 2015. It confirms the website’s earlier expectation that it will come on April 2015. But basing on the document, it could also mean that the preview could arrive as late as September 2015.

The Windows 9 could serve as a holiday gift for Windows-based users, as it’s also speculated that widespread availability for the newest OS is geared for the next year’s holiday shopping season.

There have been early reports from Myce.com and Neowin showcasing the new Start menu in the Windows 9 program. You can see it here.

The supposedly upcoming Menu shows that the idea of “apps” is once again used all over the site. The full description on PC Advisor about the new flow and structure of the start menu:

“Look to the lefthand side of the new Start menu in both Start menu shots and you can see a list of recently used apps and the option to select a list of 'All apps'. One interesting point to note is that 'All apps' appears to include both Desktop- and Metro apps. The key to Windows 9 is marrying up the two disparate elements of Windows 8 in a way that makes sense to consumers. This way Microsoft can satisfy both those users who miss the Start menu, and also make Metro apps more useful.”
