New York Knicks Roster May Get Major Boost Next Off-Season, Marc Gasol Could Likely Team Up With Melo, Fellow Spaniard Calderon

Currently, the New York Knicks roster is missing one big chunk, and it is a capable big man who can scan the floor and look for open teammates. That is where the triangle works best, and without one, the Knicks may be going nowhere even if Fisher proves to be a capable coach.

The good thing about the Knicks' roster this coming season is that it still has some space left for another star or two. Given that Anthony is already in the fold, some players may be enticed to join him in the Big Apple and try to win games.

One of these guys would be Marc Gasol who will become a free agent after this season. While Memphis will certainly try to lure him back, the younger Gasol may be looking for more opportunities to win an NBA title.

In his entire stint with the Grizzlies, Gasol has never played in for the finals of the competitive Western Conference of the NBA.

Once Gasol becomes a free agent, joining New York could be one of the most enticing offers he will get. Aside from the fact that he would be playing for his older brother's former coach Phil Jackson, and former teammate Derrick Fisher, he will also have the opportunity to play alongside fellow Spaniard Jose Calderon.

If ever Gasol chooses to move to New York, he may duplicate his brother's success when Pau moved to Los Angeles where he won two championships. That may certainly be the case here as he would be teaming up with one of the game's best volume scorers in Anthony.

The 29-year-old Gasol is not only an offensive threat, but can also play defense, having won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award a couple of seasons ago.

As for New York, they may have to let go of either Amare Stoudamire or Andrea Barghani, or both in order to get another younger player to run the triangle.

As for this upcoming season, Knicks fans can only hope that the triangle and Fisher's discipline will take Anthony and New York farther than expected.
