Motorola Moto G Release Date: New Midranger Will Be Company's Most Sold Smartphone, Gets Bigger Display, Better Camera, Expandable Storage, Now Available From Moto's Online Store

In spite everything that is going on at the IFA event in Berlin, Motorola still managed to rock the mobile market with new announcements of its newest Moto X flagship, Moto G midranger, and its gorgeous-looking Moto 360 smartwatch.

As for the manufacturer's midranger, the Moto G did not get a new name, just a simple new Moto G 2014 is enough to separate it from the previous generation, which has been considered as the most successful Motorola smartphone ever. 

With that the new Moto G handset definitely has big shoes to fill, but it looks like it will be okay. 

According to reports from Android Authority and GSM Arena, the device will come with a bigger 5-inch display and still with the same HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The phone still runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip and 1GB of RAM, which may be a disappointment, but it gets an 8GB or 16GB built in memory with the option for memory expansion through the microSD card slot. 

Also on board is a better 8MP primary camera and a 2MP front cam for selfies and video calls. Just like the flagship, the new Moto X, the Moto G 2014 also gets a clean and 'pure' Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat look, with only a few custom apps from Motorola. 

On the design side, the Moto G is certainly taller than the previous generation caused in part by the dual speakers in front. The phone is also a bit bulkier than its predecessor. Fortunately, the rounded edges from front to back has allowed the device to look slimmer than it actually is. 

A crucial factor which can determine whether the new Moto G will do well in the market is its pricing, and at only $179 for the 8GB edition and $199 for the 16GB variant, the midranger is actually cheaper than the Moto 36 smartwatch which checks in at $250.
