Upcoming Android Tablets 2014: Top Slates Announced At The IFA Showcase In Berlin, Includes Devices From Asus, Blackberry And Sony

There are really no shortages when it comes to Android devices whether they may be smartphones or tablets. That's because a lot of local manufacturers in Asia have been producing these devices for cheap for the last couple of years. And that is certainly the case as well as far as upcoming Android tablets in 2014 are concerned

However if you are looking for an Android slate that is higher end than usual when it comes to specs, and comes from a decent manufacturer, then you probably want one of these three tablets which made their debut at the IFA event this week.

Asus Memo Pad 7

Asus is known for its sleek design, and powerful tablets and phones in spite giving them affordable price tags, and the Memo Pad 7 is no different. At only €200, the Android tablet boasts some pretty impressive specs, which begins with the lovely metal design. The slate packs a 7-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1200) resolution, a quad-core CPU, an Intel Z3560 chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of built-in storage.

Also on board are a microSD card slot, a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP front shooter.

Lenovo Tab S8

Another simple-looking slate that could turn heads with its specs is the Tab S8 from Lenovo. The tablet packs an 8-inch display with the same 1920 x 1200 resolution as the Memo Pad 7, and gets a better Intel Atom chipset. The Android-powered slate also comes with a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a Dolby Sound speakers.

Compared to the Asus slate, the Lenovo tablet gets a higher spec'd 8MP camera at the back and 1.6MP snapper in front. Both devices run on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. It gets a lower price tag of only $199.

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

The Japanese manufacturer veers away from its traditional huge tablets and instead focused on a more compact device. The 8-inch slate is reported to be lighter and thinner than most tablets, and in the report by GSM Arena, its dimensions may even be compared to current smartphones in the market.

Running the show is a Snapdragon 801 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, Adreno 330 for extreme graphics performance, 3GB of RAM and an option for 16GB or 32GB of built in memory. Also on board is water and dust resistance certification, an 8MP primary camera and a 2.2MP front shooter. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is powered by a huge 4,500mAh battery.

Unfortunately, with all these juicy specs, we expect the Sony slate to be priced way higher than the first two.
