Google maps work even if the user is in offline mode, according to the report of Fuse Joplin below is the ways on how the feature works.

First, download the latest version of the application. For Android users download the Google maps version 8 and for iOS user download the version 3.

Sign into your Google account, next is enter the search bar and type "OK Maps" anytime you check the map of a place or the location. At the top you will see a notice dialog asking to "Save this map", just hit the save button and your map of the location you are in is now saved.

Moreover, take note that the moment you click the "save" the application downloads everything what is on the screen. So it is advisable to zoom it out first before you save.

Then, enter the name of the map in the dialogue box, now to access the map in offline mode, "you need to tap the person icon next to the directions on the search bar. The action takes you to your profile, where you can scroll to see your maps," in the report of Fuse Joplin.

Furthermore, the maps can last up to 30 days only so you download it again if you need it. However, a great news is that you can save a lot maps, not just the city, but even the whole country if you have a big memory space. According to Fuse Joplin about 10 MB memory space is needed to save a one map.
