Joan Rivers To Be Laid To Rest, Private Funeral For The Icon Who Once Joked About An Extravagant Exit

Family, loved ones and friends will be bidding the legendary Joan Rivers goodbye in a private ceremony to be held Sunday, Reuters reported.

The private funeral is a different outcome as what Rivers might have wanted her funeral would be like.

In her book, 'I Hate Everyone... Starting With Me,' published in 2012, Perez Hilton.com published some memorable quotes, referring to Rivers wishes during her funeral.

"When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything's in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action I want Craft Services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene," Rivers was quoted as saying in the book.

It added, " I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don't want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing Mr. Lonely. I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyoncé's."

Details of the ceremony which is scheduled to be held at Temple Emanu-El, located at the New York's Upper East Side has not been disclosed.

Rivers was 81 when she died Aug. 28 after going into cardiac arrest in an endoscopy clinic in Yorkville and that according to an Associated Press report, the real cause of death is still being determined and more tests will be conducted.

Joshua David, Senior Rabbi for the congregation issued a statement, "it is a terribly sad day for all of us. We mourn with her family, friends and all those millions to whom she brought laughter and joy."

Tributes and condolence remarks continue to pour in on the much-celebrated comedienne. Rivers, known for her one-liners and host of E! Network's fashion police are going to be greatly missed by friends and her colleagues.

Prince Charles, one of River's good friends said Rivers "will be hugely missed and utterly irreplaceable."

E! meanwhile will pay a special tribute to Rivers with an hour-long special slated tonight.
