Nokia X2 Price In India; Android Based Handset Now Available For RS 8,699; Is This Really Being Offered At A’ Lower Price Point’?

Nokia X2’s price in India is RS 8,699. Microsoft Devices launched the Android-based handset Friday designed to compete with the likes of Samsung and Micromax, Business Today reports.

"The Nokia X2 elevates the Nokia X experience with a stellar new design, ease of use and new Microsoft experiences. We're proud to continue to bring smartphone innovation to lower and lower price points," said Timo Toikkanen, head of Mobile Phones, Microsoft Devices Group, courtesy of the International Business Times.

Though the handset will definitely be considered “budget friendly” in many respects, it’s RS 100 more than when its predecessor, the Nokia X was launchd in February of this year. The first Android-based phone by Nokia was priced at RS 8,599.

Though it’s uncertain if Mr. Tokikanen “lower and lower price points” comment was directed at its latest device, the unit is still considered one of the most affordable Android handsets in the market today. It joins the ranks of Motorola’s Moto G and Moto E, both of which are priced below $200.

There have been some confusion earlier on the actual price of the Nokia X2, as one retailer puts its expected buy price at RS 10,900 before it was launched. But Friday’s announcement made it official that the Nokia X2 was near the $135 price point.

Specs of the Nokia X2 includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor that clocks at 1.2 GHz, the Nokia X2 sports a 43-inch IPS touch screen display, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal memory (expandable up to 32 GB), dual-sim capability, 5 MP primary camera, and the Android 4.4.3 Jelly Bean OS—definitely not Nokia’s best work. But with a relatively low price, its specs and looks will do.
Based on its features and built, the X2 is quite different from its predecessor. Measuring 121.7 x 68.3 x 11.1 mm and weighing 150 grams, the X2 is also lighter.

Available in glossy green, orange and black, glossy yellow, white and matt dark grey colors, the surface is translucent like the phones of Asha series. It also doesn't have Gorilla Glass protection.

The Nokia X2’s 0.3-inch IPS touch screen display has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 217 ppi.
