World Of Ice And Fire Release Date Announced: George RR Martin Will Release "Lavishly Illustrated" History Of Westeros , Live Event At 92Y October 26 [PHOTO]

We have all been waiting for "Winds of Winter" for awhile now, but for nerds who love lore and world building, something even better may be coming sooner than expected.  George RR Martin will be releasing an illustrated history of Westeros called "The World of Ice and Fire," which has an October 28 release date.

The book is said to include  facts not detailed in the novels themselves. but important to the events that unfold during the various rebellions and uprisings chronicled in the series. The author has released a sample on his website that discusses the ascension of Aegon I Targaryen, aka Aegon the Conqueror, the first Targaryen to enter Westeros, who, you know, conquered it, hence the name. Also he was marreid to his two sisters.

George R. R. Martin will is only making one stop to promote this book, at the 92Y on October 26th at 8 p.m. He'll be on hand to "discuss the political machinations and sordid relationships that set into motion the "present-day" struggles of the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, and Targaryens." The price for the event is $100 but all tickets also include a pre-signed copy of the book. The event will also be live streamed on the interweb. You can buy tickets here.

The book, co-written by Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson of Westeros.org, is intended to answer readers' questions whilst giving a better understanding of the deep-rooted alliances and bloody histories between the Baratheons, Starks, Targaryens and Lannisters.
