Upcoming Sony Tablets 2014: Meet The 'Mini' Tablet That Boasts Flagship Specs, Include 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 Chip, Water Resistance, Huge 4,500mAh Battery

In its tradition following the Xperia Z1 Compact last year, the Japanese manufacturer has unleashed one of its new upcoming Sony tablets 2014.

If you are looking for a device that will bring you all the high-end specs you need, but still keep a compact form, then the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is the ideal option.

Boasting onlyan 8-inch screen, one wouldn't notice right away that this Android device is actually a high-end device that is disguised as a humble slate.

However, if you check the spec sheet, you will certainly be impressed Sony managed to include all those features in such a thin slate.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact boasts Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801 chipset, a CPU with four cores running at 2.5GHz each, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and Adreno 330 GPU which would be perfect for games and graphic-intensive tasks.

Also on board is an 8 megapixel primary camera at the back and a 2.2MP front cam. The slate is powered by Android 4.4 Kit Kat, and comes with IP65/68 dust and water protection, a feature that was already teased a couple of weeks back when the Sony tablet appeared in an image as it is being used near a swimming pool.

In spite the monster specs, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact does not assert itself so much as it packs a simple yet sleek frame. At 6.4mm, its waistline is certainly on the slimmer side of the spectrum and its 270g weight can be compared to 5.5-inch smartphones in the market today.

There aren't a lot of Android tablets in this year's IFA, and the fact that Sony unleashed a portable device this time will surely turn heads and gather enough interest from the market.

Unfortunately, pricing and availability details were not yet announced.
