Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Is The Lumia 830 Better Than Lumia 930? New Midranger Boasts Thinner Design, Metal Frame, Wireless Charging, Lumia Denim Update

After waiting for a couple of months, we finally see the two upcoming Nokia phones for 2014, and both devices fall in the midrange category. 

However, in spite their midrange status, these two handsets provide some cool and new features that consumers would be interested in. Now, let's focus on the higher-end model, the Nokia Lumia 830. 

Dubbed as the 'first affordable flagship' smartphone, the Lumia 830 has been appearing in leaked images and rumors like crazy over the past couple of weeks. And it certainly worth the wait as the Windows Phone handset packs a gorgeous design and more than capable specs. 

The Lumia 830 has a polycarbonate matte casing to keep fingerprints away and a metal frame that is most likely made from aluminum. In spite being a little taller than the Lumia 930, the Lumia 830 is 1.3mm thinner and 17g lighter than the flagship model. 

That means Microsoft and Nokia may have been thinking about WP 8.1 users who want the power of the Lumia 930, but prefers a more compact look and feel. 

The Lumia 830's specs are no slouch either as it boasts a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 resolution packed with Nokia's trademark ClearBlack technology, 1GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and a 16GB internal memory. 

The device's 10MP primary shooter is also something interesting, and is the first of its kind in a smartphone. In front is a 0.9MP shooter for selfies. The new Lumia 830, together with the 730 comes with a new version of Windows Phone 8.1 which is exclusive for Lumias, and is called Lumia Denim. 

Compared to the Lumia 930 flagship, the newcomer is certainly undermanned when it comes to specs. However, it more than makes up for it with stunning design and a Lumia 1020-looking rear camera. Pricing will also be a factor, as the Lumia 830 is tipped to cost just above $430.
