This past Saturday, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married after having spent more than ten years together. According to E Online, The "How I Met Your Mother" star, 41, and Burtka, 39, are parents to twins Gideon and Harper.

Harris's representative told People, "We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family," working to spread the news. Harris wasn't quiet about the ceremony, either. He recently tweeted, " Guess what? David Burtka and I got married over the weekend in Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband.'"

E Online reports that both "How I Met Your Mother" producer and director Pam Fryman officiated the ceremony, and that both grooms were wearing custom Tom Ford tuxedos. Their twins, 3 ½ year olds Gideon and Harper, took part in the celebration as well. Furthermore, Elton John performed at the reception.

According to US Magazine, Harris publicly came out as gay in 2006 and got engaged to actor and chef Burtka in 2007. Their engagement became official in 2011, when New York legalized gay marriage. People reports that Harris tweeted, "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes! Progress!! David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."

Harris has always given a shout-out to Burtka in his achievements. This past June, when Harris took home the Tony Award for his performance in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," he stated, "To my family, David, I love you so much and I am so happy that we've gotten to do this, thank you for your sacrifices and thank you for putting up with me in all of this," making his love and appreciation for Burtka clear.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
