Bruce Springsteen In Talks To Make Acting Debut on `Lilyhammer’ With The Sopranos Stars Steven Van Zandt and Tony Sirico

Bruce Springsteen is stepping off stage and in front of the camera for the first time. It looks like The Boss can't refuse and offer from his E Street Band Guitarist Steven Van Zandt. Van Zandt is best known as Silvio Dante, the Consigliere on the classic HBO gangster series The Sopranos, who's star, James Gandolfini, died last summer.

Bruce Springsteen is making his acting debut with Miami Steven Van Zandt on the third season of the Netflix crime comedy "Lilyhammer."

Bruce Springsteen did do a cameo as himself in the 2000 John Cusack romantic comedy "High Fidelity." Springsteen also played the lead in a short film promoting his song "Hunter of Invisible Game" from his latest release, High Hopes. This will be the first time Springsteen is on camera playing character. The Boss of the E Street band will be playing the boss of a mortuary.

In the series, Van Zandt plays Frank Tagliano, a former New York City mobster who relocates to Norway as part of the witness protection program.

"The Boss" never appeared on the New Jersey mob show, "The Sopranos," which starred E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt. Lilyhammer shoots both in the Norgwegian town of Lillehammer. Springsteen will reportedly be shooting his scenes in New York.

Bruce Springsteen is also set to release a graphic novel based on the lyrics to his 2009 song "Outlaw Pete," who was the sung hero on the Springsteen album "Working On A Dream." Outlaw Pete was inspired by the 1950 children's book "Brave Cowboy Bill."

Van Zandt as a former mafia higher-up relocated to Lillehammer by the Federal Witness Protection Program after testifying against his boss. Bruce Springsteen will join Van Zandt and Tony Sirico, who played Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri on The Sopranos. Sirico also voiced a recurring character on the hit Fox animated comedy "Family Guy."

Netflix says the new season of "Lilyhammer" will be in late 2014, but no premiere date has been set yet.
