Ex-Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen To Quit Acting? The Pretty Reckless Singer Says 'Acting Isn't What I'm Pursuing At All'

The Pretty Reckless frontwoman and former "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen expressed her intention to quit acting for good as she said that it isn't "what I'm pursuing at all."

Former "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen opens up about her career choice and explains why there won't be a TV show or a movie starring her in the near future.

In an interview with Music Radar, Momsen explains "Acting really isn't something I'm pursuing. I quit acting almost five years ago, and you could say that was my intention."

"Acting was always, for me, a day job. It's something that paid the bills - that's how I viewed it," she added.

"To try to predict the rest of my life and what I'll do far into the future is kind of insane, but no, acting isn't what I'm pursuing at all," she continued.

Former "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen also gave her two cents about actors who take their hand at making music. "You know, there's always going to be preconceived notions whenever an actor tries to do something other than what you know them for," Momsen shared.

"Then you go, 'Hey, I'm actually a real person. I'm not who you're watching on television.' It can be confusing. People are very harsh and quick to judge at the beginning," she added.

While fans of "Gossip Girl" may get disappointed with Taylor Momsen's choice to quit acting, there is much of her to be seen on stage as a singer.

She also shares her delight at being perceived as a serious musician and not as an actress who ventured into music. "I think the TV stereotype has gone away quite a bit. The people at the shows are there for the music," Momsen said.

Taylor Momsen's band The Pretty Reckless, in which she plays with Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins, is scheduled to do a UK tour. The band has also reportedly made a record by being the second female-fronted rock band to have two number 1 hits in a row.
