Keith Richards' Book Set For Release; Daughter Theodora Provided Illustrations For 'Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar'

A Keith Richards book is set for release and the project was done in collaboration with his daughter.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards' book called "Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar" features illustrations by his daughter Theodora Dupree Richards. 

According to the Associated Press, Theodora was very involved with the book that she even travelled to London to visit her great grandfather Augustus Theodore Dupree's home for inspiration.

Richards shared his delight in his daughter's eagerness about the book, saying "She even went to the street where I was born and got the whole feel for it and all the places I had mentioned where he would take us for walks."

Theodora is Richards' elder daughter with wife Patti Hansen. She attended various art schools but the book with her father is her first project.

Meanwhile, the rock legend shared the story of the book's conception. "This one came around sort of behind my back," said Richards. "It happened to coincide with my first daughter, Angela" - whom he had in a previous relationship - "having my fifth grandchild. And I realized that I wanted to give my own grandfather his due for having turned me on to music."

Keith Richards' book is centered on his grandfather and how he was able to introduce the rock icon to music and helping him discover his love for playing the guitar.

"He would take me to music shops, thrift shops," said Richards. "I was too young ot always know what he was up to, but there was usually a bit of wheeling and dealing. He'd come out with a brand new set of strings for his violin, or a nice piece of fish to take home to Mother."

The Keith Richards book published by Little, Brown Books For Young Readers will be in bookstores on Tuesday.
