NCAA 2014-15 Champions: Kentucky Will Hold ‘Showcase Of Champions?’ Top Recruiter John Calipari To Present Strongest Roster Ever To Pro Scouts And Agents!

The Kentucky Wildcats had the best freshman class last year and arguably of all time but just like the Michigan Fab Five of the 90s, they fell a game short of winning it all.

Calipari barely lost the title of top recruiting class to Duke this year thanks to a 'package deal' that saw top recruit Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow all choosing Coach K's college. Still, he got a decent class led by Karl Towns and combining that with a record number of holdovers from last year's top class (only Julius Randle and James Young joined the NBA draft) they have a lineup for the ages.

The Kentucky Basketball roster is gifted with height, athleticism and now post season experience. The Harrison twins are expected to make their breakthrough even if Kentucky already recruited Tyler Ulis, a five-star prospect at the point. They also have an abundance of centers with some of the best slotmen of the past three recruiting classes: Willie-Cauley Stein, Dakari Johnson and Karl Towns Jr.

Coach John Calipari understands that there will be a madhouse of NBA scouts to seek out his players. But he realizes that it can also be a distraction for his young wards. He has then devised a solution. From Basketball Insiders:

"From top to bottom, this team is as good as the 2012 national championship squad, with the potential to be even better if everyone accepts and adapts to their roles like that group did. His top 10 will likely all be drafted by the time the 2016 NBA Draft is in the books. So, of course, NBA scouts and executives are extremely interested in getting a close look at them.

Rather than letting NBA decision-makers come through practice throughout the year to check them out, Calipari is reportedly planning a preseason combine in which his guys will workout, do drills and play five-on-five in front of NBA personnel, likely from every team. Afterwards, NBA talent evaluators will not be allowed in practice for the duration of the season.

Not coincidentally, UK will also be hosting some of the top recruits in the 2015 high school class the weekend the combine is going on."

Calipari's genius is at work again. The high school recruits will then witness an unprecedented, exclusive to Kentucky event with NBA scouts. How's that for a pitch?
