The iPhone 6 Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 showdown begins!

Apple recently unveiled its newest mobile devices and one of them is the iPhone 6 Plus, which is expected to compete in the phablet market. A 'phablet, ' a portmanteau of phone and tablet, combines the functions and form factors of both devices.

On the other hand, Samsung, the tech company that first introduced the 'phablet' device is also set to release newest generation of its popular Galaxy Note series - the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Comparing these forthcoming 'phablets', below are some of the important specs and features of both phones:

iPhone 6 Plus Vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Design And Body

According to Times of India, the Cupertino-based tech firm's first new iPhone phablet "looks more premium with its anodized aluminum body" together with its stainless steel buttons. iPhone 6 Plus' body is 7.1 mm thick with rounded edges.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, comes with "metal frame and soft-textured back cover" with an 8.5 mm-thick body.

As for the processor, the iPhone 6 Plus uses the 64-bit Apple 18 dual-core chipset with a clock speed of 1.4 Ghz. Apple's phablet also comes with M8 motion coprocessor.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor (32-bit) with 2.7 GHz. As for the GPU, the upcoming phablet will utilize the Adreno 320.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 camera uses 16MP lens with resolution of 3456 x 4608 pixels. Front camera has 3.7 MP (1080p at 30 frames per second).

The big-screen Apple phone, on the other hand, gets 8 MP with 3264×2448 pixels. In addition to other camera features, the iPhone 6 Plus comes with optical image stabilization functionality. Secondary camera has 1.2MP lens with 720p@30fps.

The iPhone 6 Plus runs on iOS 8 while the Galaxy Note 4 gets the Android 4.4 Kitkat firmware. 

As for the storage, internal capacity options for the Apple phone are 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. However, storage cannot be expanded since micro-SD slot is not available.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 only comes with 32GB storage, but additional storage of up to 128 GB is possible via micro-SD.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to hit the shelves on October 2014 while the iPhone 6 Plus will be available on September 19.
