2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Andray Blatche, Michael Beasley Still Unsigned! LA Lakers, Miami Heat Still Hesitant! Which Team Will Roll The Dice?

The last of the 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions feature two of the NBA's cautionary tales. Andray Blatche and Michael Beasley were two of the best high school players when they graduated.

Blatche was one of the last rookies to make the jump straight from high school before the one-and-done rule was implemented. Bleacher Report notes that his case is the best justification for the rule:

"Fast forward to the present and you have a 25-year-old versatile big man who has continued to tease and frustrate fans with his All-Star potential coupled with his immaturity.

If Blatche had gone to college, his immaturity and selfish attitude would have been squashed immediately by professors, coaches and teammates who all serve to foster the same traits that Blatche lacks.

Coming straight into the NBA and earning millions of dollars, Blatche has never learned humility which has stunted his growth as a player and a person."

But that rule did not help Michael Beasley who did go to college and posted Kevin Durant like numbers in his one and done year.

College did not solve his immaturity nor his bad habits.

Now both players are being paid by their former teams to leave the team, Blatche through amnesty and Beasley through a buyout. The latest on their free agency status from Basketball Insiders:

"Blatche played well in the World Cup, so it's possible he lands an international deal if a NBA job doesn't open up.

Blatche will be paid $8.4 million by Washington this season, so there is no urgency for him to agree to something that doesn't make sense for him. It's possible that Blatche opens the season as a free agent and sign somewhere after an injury.

The Brooklyn Nets still have a cap hold and rights to Blatche, so a return to Brooklyn isn't a stretch either."

The Miami Heat might be a good fit, but they are still thinking twice.

For Beasley, he only got a limited audition:

"Beasley continues to be one of the last kids standing on the playground. The LA Lakers have taken a long look at Beasley, but it's looking more and more likely that Beasley may not get signed. The word from Beasley's camp is that he has really put in some solid work this summer and is simply looking for a chance to play. Beasley is still being paid by the Phoenix Suns by virtue of a buyout, so it's more about fit for Beasley than anything.

His camp understands that if he lands somewhere and flames out, that his career in the NBA may be finished, so there is some deliberateness to the process."

Beasley is probably on his last chance in the NBA, and unlike Blatche, the international stage doesn't seem to be an option. He cannot just take any offer-he needs to sign the right one.
