Pacquiao Mayweather Fight Update: Money Vs Maidana Tickets Drop Prices! Bob Arum Says They’ll Look Like Fools If Fight Does Not Happen!

The Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight is still not confirmed. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight Marcos Maidana in a rematch that is probably the best fight he can muster, but ticket prices are reportedly dropping! Will this force the hand of the two fighters to get it together, or will they end up looking like fools?

Top Rank Promotions head Bob Arum who handles Manny Pacquiao has declared time and again that they want the fight but Mayweather's not biting. From the NY Post: "There's a lot of money involved. We're all going to be looked at five years from now as (fools) if this fight doesn't happen."

"We're on board. There's no issues with us. We're on board. We want to make the fight. We just can't seem to get (Mayweather) motivated to accept the fight. One thing about Floyd is he's really smart when it comes to boxing and Manny presents challenges to Floyd and his style that other fighters don't."

Forbes Magazine reported that the prices for tickets to Mayweather's rematch with Maidana are dropping. It might not be substantial but usually a rematch should show an increase.

The NY Post also consolidates the dropping audience interest. An anonymous boxing insider stated:

"He (Mayweather) has a tremendous contract with Showtime that is costing Showtime millions of dollars because fighting these guys he's not doing the numbers to justify the contract."

The speculated figured from NY Post:

"Showtime hasn't released figures on Mayweather's May bout with Maidana, though multiple sources have indicated it was under the 900,000 buys generated for Mayweather's bout with Robert Guerrero in May 2013. The limited return on the Guerrero bout was behind the push to have the popular, but still improving, Canelo Alvarez of Mexico fight Mayweather last September. That bout generated 2.2 million buys and $150 million in revenue."

With all these dipping numbers, the logical move is to make the fight that would yield the biggest purse in boxing history. Otherwise, they would look like fools.
