Live Action ‘Teen Titans’ Show A Possibility? ‘Titans’ TV Series Near Pilot Order At TNT, Adaptation To Follow Nightwing

More superheroes are coming to the small screen. New reports are surfacing that DC Comics are working with TNT on a potential pilot order for "Titans," a TV series that will follow Batman's protege-turned-team-leader, Nightwing.

TNT is nearing a pilot-production order for "Titans", "a drama based on a group of super heroes-to-be" sources told The Hollywood Reporter earlier today. The series will be written by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes. The pair will also co-EP the series.

According to Deadline, "The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others."

Since this version is going to be about Nightwing as opposed to Robin, fans of the comic book series (and maybe even "Teen Titans") should expect the series to be closer to the "New Titans" character arcs, according to Slash Film.

It seems Warner Bros. TV is quite busy these days with superheroes as the studio will debut "The Flash," "Gotham," and "Constantine," in addition to the return of popular series "Arrow." If that wasn't already a lot, this is all going on while a "Supergirl" TV series is currently being shopped around. But is Warner Bros. overcrowding itself with DC characters while simultaneously being unable to mention Batman due to their separation between TV and film versions?

Screenrant explains: "It's possible that the official details (and the show itself) will minimize the emphasis on the caped crusader, since even Fox's ‘Gotham' has to make due with the hero's villains, and a young Bruce Wayne. But it won't be easy to tell the tale of Robin's ascent into Nightwing without alluding to his mentor, and with Starfire and Raven mentioned by name, the mere existence of the series raises more questions than other in-development DC properties."

At this point in development, not much can be discerned at how the executives plan to handle overlapping characters. Nevertheless, with how many superheroes are popping up, comic book fans of even some of the lesser known series might be getting a live-action version sooner rather than later.
