Nicole Kidman's Father Dies in Accidental Fall in Singapore Hotel Room; Police Investigate the "Unnatural Death"

Nicole Kidman's father, Dr. Antony Kidman, died after taking a fall in Singapore Friday.

Reuters reported that Nicole's father Dr. Anthony Kidman, 75, was in Singapore visiting his younger daughter Antonia and his six grandchildren. TV presenter and author Antonia Kidman lives in Singapore with her banker husband, Craig Marran.

A spokesman said "Police are investigating the unnatural death." According to Reuters, the term "unnatural death" in Singapore often refers to falls or other accidents.

Antony Kidman is a clinic psychologist at the University of Technology, Sydney. In a statement vice-chancellor professor Attila Brungs told Reuters "It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman's sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly-as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner. Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Dr. Kidman is a clinical psychologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney. Dr. Kidman was an expert on psychological and health-related issues.He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2005 for his contributions to clinical psychology.

Nicole's publicist told the Daily Mail Australia. "The family is in shock and is grieving. I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy."

The Kidman family was last seen together in January.  

Nicole Kidman was born in Hawaii and raised in Australia. Kidman most recently starred in the biopic "Grace of Monaco." Kidman won an Academy Award for role as author Virginia Woolf in The Hours in 2002.

Neither Nicole nor Antonia Kidman have yet to make a statement about their father's death.
