Veronica Mars, that teenaged sleuth who turned a cult television hit into a more cultlike movie hit, could use a spinoff. The Veronica Mars movie was funded through a kickstarter program and funded by fans of the show. Now someone is trying to kick start a spinoff about making a spinoff of Veronica Mars.

That should be news. That should be news covered by "The Newsroom." But since the HBO show is too busy running from the Koch Brothers as they head for their last episode, the producers of the spin off decided to run with it themselves.

The new trailer for the 'Veronica Mars' spinoff makes fun of 'The Newsroom' in their 'Play It Again, Dick' trailer.

The online show, "Play It Again, Dick" stars Ryan Hansen, who played Dick Casablancas on Veronica Mars, as an actor trying to pitch a Veronica Mars spinoff. Kristen Bell, who played Veronica Mars on "Veronica Mars," and Jason Dohring, who played Logan Echolls on the show, put in dual roles as both themselves and their characters on the show.

"Play it Again, Dick" will be an eight episode show, each show runs about ten minutes long.

The series will run on CW website CW Seed.

The episodes will air beginning on Sept. 16 on CW's website, CW Seed.

The third and final season of The Newsroom premieres Sunday, November 9 at 9PM on HBO.   The Newsroom was created by Aaron Sorkin, who also kickstarted The West Wing and screenwriter of The Social Network and Moneyball. The series stars Jeff Daniels.
