‘Insurgent’ Star Theo James Will Replace Kate Beckinsale In Fifth 'Underworld' Film! Get To Know His Vampire Character David

As "Insurgent" movie spoilers continue to surface, the movie's lead actor Theo James has also signed on for another project - the fifth film of the "Underworld" franchise. The 29-year-old actor will return and replace Kate Beckinsale as the film's lead character. Two females will be on his team but their identities were not yet announced.

Shailene Woodley's boyfriend on-screen first appeared on the film's fourth installment, "Underworld: Awakening", in 2012. The "Underworld" films follow the life of Selene (Beckinsale) who's determined to destroy a certain group of Lycans who she believes killed her family. Beckinsale, however, won't return for the fifth film.

James plays the role of David who developed an alliance with Selene after helping save Eve, Selene's daughter. He was originally born as a pure-blooded vampire but during an altercation with the Lycans, he was severely wounded and ended up dying.

Selene then makes use of her hybrid blood in an attempt to revive David. Her plan worked but changed David into a vampire-corvinus strain hybrid.

Despite being relatively young, David isn't afraid to fight for what he believes is right. When he brought Selene and Eve to the Coven, his father expressed disagreement believing that Selene's a traitor because of her contribution in the deaths of vampires. David stood out for Selene and said that the Elders betrayed her first.

The fifth installment is rumored to be entitled "Underworld: Next Generation" and will begin filming next year.
