Motorola Droix Maxx Review, Update: Android Phablet May Soon Be Replaced By Verizon Handset W/ Turbo Charging Features; ‘Quark’ Features High-End Specs

Motorola Droid Maxx review, update: The oversized Android handset, Motorola Droix Maxx, may soon be replaced by a fast charging device that was recently spotted in an FCC filing, GigaOM reports.

“It looks like the soon-to-be Lenovo subsidiary is preparing a new device for Verizon which would most likely use Droid branding, according to an FCC filing published on Thursday and spotted by Droid-Life,” notes the tech site.

The upcoming handset will support Motorola’s Turbo Charger, which was unveiled with the Moto X, and claims to add 8 hours of run time in only 15 minutes of charging. The device in the filing is labeled “Quark” and would be supporting Verizon’s wireless bands, including LTE bands 2,4 and 13. It’s also expected to come with NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and support for WiFi 802.11 ac.

According to rumors the supposed replacement of the Motorola Droid Maxx will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with a 1440 x 2560 display. Based on leaked unofficial benchmarks, the new handset’s processors will clock in at 2.65 GHz and the device will have almost 3Gb of RAM.

In terms of battery life, Giga OM noted that, “Kellex at Droid-Life thinks the ‘EQ40’ battery number listed in the FCC filing corresponds to a updated version of last year’s Droid Maxx battery, which weighs in at a hefty 3500mAh.”

Specs of the current Motorola Droid Maxx include a 5-inch display, 10MP camera and under the hood, a dual-core processor that clocks in at 1.7Ghz and powered with 2GB of RAM. The handset runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and has a battery life of 3,500 mAh.
After its release last year, the Droid Maxx stands out from the rest of the Motorola line-up because of its solid built and incredibly long-lasting battery. In fact, this is even considered as one of Verizon’s best smartphones ever offered.

The Motorola Droid Maxx measures 5.41 x 2.80 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.89 ounces, this heavy-duty handset has an attractive Kevlar back and an overall soft-touch finish that masks fingerprints and gives a better grip and a more premium feel.
